Text to Emoji Letters

Spell words out of coloured letter tiles and flag-style indicators.

Short answer

Emoji letters are regional-indicator symbols drawn as coloured tiles. Watch for adjacent pairs forming a valid country code — they will silently render as a flag instead of two letters.

How it works

Emoji letters are built from regional-indicator symbols — the same characters that combine in pairs to produce flag emoji — and from squared Latin letters. Used one at a time, most platforms draw them as bold coloured tiles rather than plain glyphs.

The flag trap

Two adjacent regional indicators that happen to form a valid country code will render as that flag instead of two separate letters. Words containing sequences like G-B, U-S, D-E or I-T can therefore collapse into a flag mid-word, which is the single most common surprise with this style. Always preview the finished word before posting it.

Where it works

Best in captions, comments and posts where there is room for wide characters. Bios with tight limits fill up quickly, since each tile occupies far more visual space than an ordinary letter.

Test before you post

The flag collision is not theoretical. Words containing letter pairs that form valid country codes will render a flag mid-word, and it happens silently. Paste the finished text into the destination and read it back before publishing.
