How Ultra Gal Moji is produced

This style changes capitalisation rather than characters. Your letters stay exactly the letters you typed; only their case is altered, following a rule applied word by word or character by character.

This is the safest category on the site. The output is ordinary text, so it remains fully searchable, reads correctly to a screen reader, and is accepted by every input field that would accept what you typed originally.

About this family

The styles here share nothing except the absence of a better home, and each is built differently. Keycap numbers are three code points pretending to be one: a digit, a variation selector, and U+20E3 combining enclosing keycap, which draws the box. Currency letters are a plain substitution chosen on shape alone — S for the dollar sign, C for the cent sign — with no relationship between the letter and the symbol beyond how they look. Gyaru-moji, the cipher that spread through Japanese mobile phones in the early 2000s, decomposes kana into their component strokes and rebuilds them from unrelated Latin, Greek and mathematical glyphs. Font cuping is not character substitution at all: it is an Indonesian respelling convention that rewrites words phonetically in a deliberately soft, childlike register, so the output is ordinary letters arranged into different words.

Before you use it

Because the mechanisms differ, so do the failure modes, and nothing you learn from one style here transfers to the next. Keycap sequences depend on the platform honouring the variation selector; a device that ignores it renders the digit and the enclosing mark side by side instead of stacked. Currency-letter text is close to meaningless to a screen reader, which announces the money signs rather than the word they spell. The two language-derived styles carry a register an outsider cannot read from the output: gyaru-moji is period-specific enough that it now reads as dated to Japanese speakers, and cuping is strongly associated with a particular online demographic in Indonesia. Both are fine to use — worth knowing what they signal.
